How do I track my period in Balloon?

Enable Cycle tracking with Balloon Plus, log or edit period days, and review your cycle history.

Written by Maria

Cycle tracking is included with Balloon Plus on iPhone. Log the days you have your period and review them alongside your poop and symptom logs. Apple Health sync is optional.

Turn on cycle tracking

  1. Tap your profile icon on Balloon's Home screen.

  2. Find the Cycle tracking section and tap Cycle tracking feature.

  3. Turn on Cycle tracking.

  4. Follow the setup screens. You can connect Apple Health or choose Not now to log periods manually.

If you see the cycle-tracking announcement, leave Enable Cycle Tracking checked and tap Continue instead.

Log period days

  1. Tap + on the Home screen, then Cycle.

  2. In Select Period Days, tap each day you had flow. Selected dates turn purple.

  3. Tap a selected date again to remove it.

  4. Tap Save.

Scroll through the calendar to add older periods. You can log today or earlier dates; future dates cannot be selected. Dates load as you browse, so wait for a month to finish loading before editing it.

See your periods in Day View and History

On a day with a logged period, Day View shows Has flow, the logged start and end dates, and Day x of x with purple dots. The total is the number of consecutive days you have logged, not a prediction of how long your period will last.

In History, choose Cycle to see your periods. Consecutive days are grouped into one card, such as 4-day Period · Has Flow. The Cycle tab only appears when you have period records.

Edit or remove period days

Tap a period card in Day View or History to reopen the calendar. Select days to add them, or tap selected days to remove them, then tap Save. To remove an entire period, unselect all its days and save.

If an older Apple Health-sourced calendar is read-only, edit those records in Apple Health. For how syncing and deletion work, see Sync period tracking with Apple Health.

Turn tracking off or back on

Go to Profile → Cycle tracking → Cycle tracking feature and change the toggle. Turning it off hides Cycle from the activity menu and its settings from Apple Health integration, and stops automatic cycle sync. It does not delete your saved period records. You can turn it back on from the same page.

Can't find Cycle?

  • Update Balloon to the latest version on your iPhone.

  • Check that Cycle tracking is turned on in your profile. Dismissing the announcement without enabling it leaves the feature off.

  • Check your Balloon Plus subscription. A lock beside Cycle means a subscription is needed.

  • The announcement is not shown when your profile's sex is set to male. If that information is incorrect or you still cannot enable tracking, contact us through the in-app chat.

Cycle tracking records period days. It does not currently predict your next period, ovulation, or fertile window.
